"Alice Montgomery’s life is like Groundhog Day. Five years after graduating, she’s still working in her mum’s bookshop, hiding her stash of romance novels under the bed and pining for the gorgeous guy who helped her over a panic attack before her final uni exam.
Aaron Blake loves to party—hard. His idea of commitment to anything other than his legal career is strictly for three months. Until landing a job with the most prestigious—but conservative—law firm in town means he has to convince the partners he’s deeply committed to family values.

Aaron needs a fake date fast—and who could be safer than his bookish friend Alice?
Soon Alice finds herself dating her secret crush, sporting a daring new look of vintage frocks and itsy-bitsy lace lingerie.

Now the heat is notching up. Aaron’s feelings for his fake date are proving anything
but safe, and Alice is discovering her inner sex-goddess.

But when secrets are revealed and lies uncovered, both Alice and Aaron will have to work out the hardest equation of all… what this crazy thing called loved is all about."

The Alice Equation has been a great read to start this 2021! This contemporary romance book is simply fantastic. From start to finish has been an easy read and not too boring or too cheesy.

When I picked this book up, I was in a reading slump and I prayed to get rid of it with this lecture. And oh, it did disappear. I finished this book in two whole nights -and I didn't do it in once because I had to sleep-. The writing is fast-paced and has the right amounts of details. As a person whose English is not their first language, I really appreciate that!

The first thing I loved about the characters is Alice's development. She started as a shy girl, not sure what to do with her life and really unconfident with herself. Trough the book, we start seeing how she gets rid of the insecurities and becomes more confident in herself. And this is not a fast change. It goes so slowly that when I realized that Alice was not the same girl as at the start, the book had almost ended! What I liked the most about this change is that she didn't change her personality at all.

Aaron from the other hand started as an outgoing and confident man, but in the last pages is shown how well he hid his concerns, that he didn't even realize he had. I'm not gonna lie, I did shed some tears when reading the last pages. In addition, I loved how the book shows both points of view: from Alice and Aaron.

A detail I really appreciate is the incorporation of anxiety and panic attacks in the story. From my point of view, they were really well portrayed, as well as incorporated in the story -they didn't happen for no reason-.

Overall, this book is a solid four stars. I can't wait to read more from the author!
