I haven't read the Iron Fey series so I was kind of confused at the beginning of the book but I have to say that the author explains everything you need to know and I found it easy to understand. I do think that you need to read the other books to feel more attached to some characters of the other series that appear in this book, but either way I enjoyed all of them.

Like Nyx I don’t know the reputation of Robin Goodfellow (not having read the other books), I just know Puck. In this book we see him struggle with his old self, that fey everyone was afraid of, and who he has become, a person who has left behind all the things that made him bad. I was really suffering reading about his inner struggle of not knowing who you are anymore. And I liked the message this book transmits and how the author portrays it. The author did this so well I felt everything. Really I have to credit her a lot for this because she made me see the old Robin Goodfellow and understand him without me having read the other books where he was introduced.

I really like the world, it's really promising and I just might read the very first book, but I have to say that this book felt more like an introduction than a story itself. It’s fast paced with a lot of action but I feel it kind of dragged out a little bit, in my opinion. Also the end was kind of predictable and easy but I also found it made sense because it goes really well with the storyline of Puck's inner struggles.

I'm already declaring my love for Nyx, she's my favorite character and a red cap and I can't wait to see more of her. I did like Meghan, Ash and the other characters but some of their scenes felt like fan service, which I'm sure they are since those are very beloved characters by the fanbase, so I understand it but sometimes it felt like they were the main characters and not Puck.

The second book promises to be way better because that last sentence was really unexpected, so I will be continuing with this trilogy and I might read all the other books.

Summing it up, I think this book is a good introduction to the world.

"You could be excatly what these countries need to stop their fighting. Or you could rip them apart at the seams."

"I want to give the heretics a welcoming taste of Kalyazi magic. Let them fear what the faithful can do."

"She was chosen by the goddess of death. She never had a chance at innocence."

He podido conectar bastante con ella.

"Here was a problem for him to decipher. Here was something to do, even if that something was surviving."

"We're all monsters, Nadya. Some of us just hide it better than others."

No sé, lo he disfrutado mucho.

"What you've given me is a truth I don't know what to do with because I've never had anything like it before. This contemporary romance book is simply fantastic. From start to finish has been an easy read and not too boring or too cheesy.

When I picked this book up, I was in a reading slump and I prayed to get rid of it with this lecture. And oh, it did disappear. I finished this book in two whole nights -and I didn't do it in once because I had to sleep-. The writing is fast-paced and has the right amounts of details. As a person whose English is not their first language, I really appreciate that!

 The first thing I loved about the characters is Alice's development. She started as a shy girl, not sure what to do with her life and really unconfident with herself. Trough the book, we start seeing how she gets rid of the insecurities and becomes more confident in herself. And this is not a fast change. It goes so slowly that when I realized that Alice was not the same girl as at the start, the book had almost ended! What I liked the most about this change is that she didn't change her personality at all.

Aaron from the other hand started as an outgoing and confident man, but in the last pages is shown how well he hid his concerns, that he didn't even realize he had. I'm not gonna lie, I did shed some tears when reading the last pages. In addition, I loved how the book shows both points of view: from Alice and Aaron.

A detail I really appreciate is the incorporation of anxiety and panic attacks in the story. From my point of view, they were really well portrayed, as well as incorporated in the story -they didn't happen for no reason-.

 Overall, this book is a solid four stars. She has always lived in a small village with her father, a drug addict. But when she saves the son of a highborn, she is required to be his guard. Kira is sent to the greatest school with a mission: she has to discover who is trying to kill his new friend (Trace)while hiding her gift to everyone else.

<span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="color: #666666;">I want to be honest, I started this book when I was in a reading slump and I had a hard time starting this book. I even though about not finishing the book. But when I finally started to get interested in the plot, I was glad I had continued it.
<span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="color: #666666;">
<span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="color: #666666;">The writing helped a lot. It was really fast-paced and easy to understand. Although they were some scenes that were a bit hard to comprehend (i had a hard time understanding the sport, but it can be because my first language is not English!), overall the book was easy to follow and very intriguing. Priya makes really good use of the language, and her narrations are marvelous. She knows when the narration needs to be longer or shorter, making everything much more enjoyable.

<span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="color: #666666;">About the characters, at first, I thought it was going to be a bit cliché: a poor girl discovers she is the one that needs to save the kingdom. But when I started reading it, I soon realized that this was really different from other books. Kira knows what she can do and her weaknesses.
<span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="color: #666666;">
<span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="color: #666666;">Every character has a remarkable development, as well as with their relationships. At first, Kira and Trace were kinds of enemies. But in the end, we can appreciate how Trace fully trusts Kira and refers to her as her friend. It was a pleasure to read and watch all this improvement. The lack of romantic relationships caught me by surprise. I was rooting for Sarita and Trace! I am waiting for the next book (if there's one) to see more about the characters.
<span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="color: #666666;">
<span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="color: #666666;">What it really loved was the plot twists. I didn't expect that end! They were somethings that could be predicted, but seriously, some others will blow your mind. Mateo’s father is overly obsessed with his fifteen-year-old son’s baseball achievements to the exclusion of other interests (manga, indie rock music, and Stick—the boy from the “troubled” family down the street, the one with thirteen children of mixed races). Mateo’s mother comes from a sprawling Puerto Rican family that provides little privacy and complicated support as Mateo and his father clash over a baseball injury that jeopardizes his season. Down the street, Stick is dealing with the sudden loss of his father and living up to an image he believes his father saw in himself, one that wasn’t gay, which drives him to drink and do drugs beyond anything he and Mateo have experimented. They come together and fall apart. Like a mantra, Mateo repeats the words from one of the band’s songs whenever he gets hurt or afraid: I WILL BE OKAY. The sentences were too long and with too much information in them. But after reading a couple of characters, I started to like that style! It gives a lot of information and portrays the character feeling so well that I cried a couple of times (believe it or no, that's a positive aspect!) Also, the pacing is great. It is not too fast or too slow, making hard to putting that book down. Although I sometimes felt that the writing was too long or a bit confusing to read.

<span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="color: #444444;">

<span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="color: #444444;">For the characters, I have to say that I loved each of them. I would have liked it if there was more development in Cara, but this is just personal because I loved her personality. An unexpected character I ended liking was Matt's mom. I thought that she would tell his dad what she saw, but she didn't, and instead, she gave Matt time yo clear up his mind and space. I loved that. Matt's father really surprised me in the end. I didn't expect his reaction and how he started to change. Although I'm still a little bit mad that he didn't apologize for all the offensive comments he made before.
<span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="color: #444444;">

<span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="color: #444444;">"I miss you, Matt."<span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="color: #444444;">― Bill Elenbark, I Will Be Okay<span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="background-color: white;">.
<span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="color: #444444;">
<span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="color: #444444;">Without a doubt, the thing I enjoyed the most is the plot. It hit too close to home. All the Matt's feelings were so clearly expressed that while reading the book, I felt the same way Matt did. All the problems that teenagers suffer, family issues, and how death do not have a warning. All of those situations were really well portrayed. Also the peer pressure and alcohol consumption on teenagers, a thing that I personally haven't read too much on YA books, so it was quite refreshing.
<span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="color: #444444;">I absolutely loved that aspect of the book, and how it transmitted the sad and good feelings. I can't wait to reread the book again.
<span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="color: #444444;">
<span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="color: #444444;">Although is not a perfect book, I can't give it less than 4+ stars. It is one of those books that might have flaws ( the writing sometimes is too long and you can feel overwhelmed by it), but you just loved it. It is a book worth reading without doubts.

<span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="color: #444444;">

<span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="color: #444444;">Do I recommend it?

<span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="color: #444444;">Absolutly.

<span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="color: #444444;">

anreadshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02544037133961006222noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3680857394763299332.post-62897040654497540822020-10-06T08:58:00.009-07:002020-12-29T07:33:19.315-08:00Reseña "The Black Flamingo", de Dean Atta
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet";">➥The Black Flamingo

Your ignorance may be innocent but the racism is real.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "arial";">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "arial";"> El libro presenta a cinco protagonistas: Kaz, Inej, Nina, Wylan, Jesper y Matthew.

<span style="color: #222222; font-family: "arial"; font-size: xx-small;">

<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: medium; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: justify; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">

<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: justify; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">
